SPRING ART CAMP 2020

Flora, Fauna and Florida!
Save on airfare this spring break and join us for a stay-cation like no other! Explore the art, culture and history of Florida by creating unique works inspired by the Sunshine State. View pieces from the exhibition Living Color: The Art of the Highwaymen and discover new techniques on how to create a landscape painting. Become inspired by the colors, plants, animals, and atmosphere that make up Florida in order to create both two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces in the studio.

Dates:
March 13 and 16-20, 2020

MARCH 13: Painting Florida
Explore the different parts of the Sunshine State! Travel south to the swampy Everglades, north to historic Tallahassee, west to tropical Tampa, and east to the exciting Space Coast! Create artwork using a variety of mediums to showcase iconic features of Florida.

MARCH 16: Art of the Outdoors!
Discover the joy of plein air painting (the act of painting outdoors)! Soak in the fresh air as you paint the Florida landscape that surrounds the museum. Weather permitting, easels will be provided for plein air painting by Lake Estelle. Dress comfortably for painting outside.

MARCH 17: Going Green!
Calling all leprechauns! Go green this St. Patrick’s Day by creating artwork inspired by the Irish holiday. Use lucky pencils, paint brushes, scissors, and glue sticks to design treasured artwork only found at the end of a rainbow!

MARCH 18: Sunrise, Sunset
Look towards the sky and find inspiration from the sun! Use reds, oranges, and yellows to create imaginative sunrise and sunset scenes. Be inspired by the vivid paintings in the exhibition Living Color: The Art of the Highwaymen to create your own two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art.

MARCH 19: The Sunshine State
Soak in the sun of the Sunshine State! Explore the variety of flora and fauna that Florida has to offer. Mix and create with earthly pigments to create a painting from nature.

MARCH 20: The Art of Storytelling
